전남, ‘혁신 창업 수도’로 도약 선언!

전라남도가 지역 청년과 혁신기업이 함께 성장하는 창업 생태계의 새 장을 열었다.

전남도는 6일부터 7일까지 이틀간 순천만생태문화교육원 일원에서 ‘제1회 전남 벤처·스타트업 페스티벌’을 개최하고, 지역 혁신 창업의 미래를 선포했다.

■ “도전과 모험으로 전남의 혁신을 스타트하다”
이번 행사는 ‘벤처·창업의 도전과 모험, 전남이 혁신을 스타트하다’를 주제로 열렸으며, 김영록 전남도지사를 비롯해 김태균 전남도의회 의장, 이병운 순천대 총장 등 지역대학 총장과 출연기관, 벤처투자사(VC), 액셀러레이터(AC) 등 관계자 3천여 명이 참석했다.

개막식에서는 도지사 개회사와 내빈 축사, 벤처기업 유공자 표창, 비전 퍼포먼스가 진행돼 지역 창업의 열기와 비전을 한데 모았다.

이어 구글 스타트업 캠퍼스, 중·고·대학생 창업경진대회 등 예비창업가의 실전 무대가 이어져 젊은 창업 열정을 뜨겁게 달궜다.

■ 투자·기술·멘토링 ‘3박자’… 실질적 창업 지원 장 마련
페스티벌 기간 동안 전시·상담·투자 연계 등 다양한 프로그램이 운영돼 참가자들이 실질적인 창업 지원 정보를 얻을 수 있는 장이 펼쳐졌다.

부대행사로는 기술이전(오픈이노베이션), 1대1 전문가 멘토링, 기업 투자 상담회 등이 마련됐으며, 벤처기업·대기업 상생협력존, 대학 창업허브센터·유관기관 홍보관 등에서는 창업 지원과 협력의 길을 열었다.

특히 ‘벤처창업기업 제품 홍보관’에는 전남의 우수 스타트업 50여 개 기업이 참여해 혁신 기술력과 제품을 선보였고, 현장 투자 매칭과 판로 협력 가능성을 넓혔다.

■ 미래산업 중심 ‘전남형 혁신창업 생태계’ 구현
전남도는 로봇·우주·드론·해상풍력·전기차 등 미래 첨단산업을 중심으로 한 ‘지역특화존’을 운영해 전남이 미래산업의 중심지로 도약하고 있음을 강조했다.

또 RISE(지역혁신중심대학지원체계) 사업 홍보관에서는 순천대·목포대·동신대 등 권역별 창업허브센터가 대학 중심 창업 활성화와 성장 지원체계를 소개하며, 청년 인재의 지역 정착 모델을 제시했다.

■ “청년이 창업으로 승부하는 전남 만들 것”
김영록 전남도지사는 “전남의 혁신 창업이 지역을 넘어 글로벌 시장으로 도약하도록 창업 전 주기적 지원을 강화하겠다.”며 “분산에너지 특구 지정, RE100 산업단지 조성, 슈퍼데이터센터 및 반도체 팩토리 유치 등을 통해 청년들에게 더 많은 벤처창업 기회를 제공하겠다.”고 밝혔다.

그는 또 “대학·기업·투자기관이 협력하는 창업 생태계를 통해 전남이 대한민국 혁신산업의 중심지로 자리매김하도록 하겠다.”고 덧붙였다.

■ 지속가능한 창업기반으로 ‘지역혁신’ 본격화
전남도는 이번 행사를 계기로 벤처기업 투자유치 확대, 지역대학 중심 창업허브 고도화, 청년창업 네트워크 활성화를 추진해 미래 첨단산업 중심의 지속가능한 창업 생태계를 집중 육성할 계획이다.

Jeollanam-do Province has opened a new chapter in building an entrepreneurial ecosystem where local youth and innovative companies grow together.
The province hosted the “1st Jeonnam Venture & Startup Festival” at the Suncheon Bay Eco-Cultural Education Center from November 6 to 7, announcing the future vision of regional innovation and entrepreneurship.
■ “Starting Jeonnam’s Innovation with Challenge and Adventure”
Under the theme “Challenge and Adventure in Venture & Startups — Jeonnam Starts Innovation,” the festival gathered more than 3,000 participants, including Jeonnam Governor Kim Yung-rok, Provincial Assembly Chair Kim Tae-gyun, Suncheon National University President Lee Byung-woon, university leaders, representatives of research institutes, venture capitalists (VCs), and accelerators (ACs).
The opening ceremony featured a welcome speech by the governor, congratulatory remarks by dignitaries, awards for outstanding venture companies, and a vision performance, bringing together the passion and aspirations of Jeonnam’s startup community.
Programs such as Google Startup Campus sessions and startup competitions for middle school, high school, and university students provided aspiring entrepreneurs with practical experience and a platform to showcase their ideas.
■ Investment, Technology, and Mentoring — A Three-in-One Platform for Real Support
Throughout the festival, diverse programs such as exhibitions, consulting sessions, and investment linkages offered participants tangible opportunities for business growth.
Side events included technology transfer (open innovation), one-on-one mentoring, and investment consultations, while collaboration zones featured booths for venture–corporate partnerships and university startup hubs, creating a network for cooperation and information sharing.
The Venture Startup Product Pavilion showcased cutting-edge technologies and products from over 50 leading Jeonnam startups, drawing strong interest from major corporations and investors, and expanding possibilities for market partnerships.
■ Building a “Jeonnam-Style Innovative Startup Ecosystem” Around Future Industries
The province also operated a “Regional Specialization Zone” focused on next-generation industries such as robotics, aerospace, drones, offshore wind power, and electric vehicles, highlighting Jeonnam’s ambition to emerge as a core hub of Korea’s future industries.
The RISE (Regional Innovation System for Education) promotional booth presented collaborative models from Suncheon National University, Mokpo National University, and Dongshin University, emphasizing a university-centered startup ecosystem and local youth retention strategies.
■ “Jeonnam Will Be a Place Where Young Entrepreneurs Take on the Challenge”
Governor Kim Yung-rok stated,
“We will strengthen policy support across the entire startup lifecycle so that Jeonnam’s innovative ventures can expand beyond the region into global markets.”
He added,
“Following the designation of the Distributed Energy Special Zone, we plan to establish RE100 industrial complexes, attract super data centers and semiconductor factories, and create even more startup opportunities for young people.”
Governor Kim also emphasized that cooperation among universities, corporations, and investment institutions will position Jeonnam as the center of Korea’s innovation industries.
■ Toward a Sustainable Foundation for Regional Innovation
Building on this festival, Jeonnam Province aims to expand venture investment attraction, enhance university-centered startup hubs, and activate youth startup networks, fostering a sustainable, innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystem anchored in advanced future industries.
