전라남도가 잦은 강우로 인한 파종·정식 지연에 대응해, 마늘과 양파 농가를 대상으로 한 농작물재해보험과 농업수입안정보험 가입 기간을 연장한다고 6일 밝혔다.

이번 조치로 난지형 마늘은 기존 14일에서 21일까지, 양파는 기존 21일에서 28일까지 가입할 수 있게 됐다.

농작물재해보험은 태풍, 폭우, 가뭄 등 자연재해로 발생한 농작물 피해를 보장해 농가 경영 안정을 지원하는 제도로, 보험료의 90%를 국비와 지방비가 지원한다.

반면, 농업수입안정보험은 자연재해뿐 아니라 시장 가격 하락 등으로 농가 수입이 일정 수준 이하로 감소했을 때 손실을 보전해 주며, 보험료의 85%를 지원한다.

마늘과 양파 농가는 두 가지 보험 중 하나를 선택할 수 있으며, 두 보험 모두 수확량 감소를 보장 대상으로 하기 때문에 중복 가입은 불가능하다.

보험 가입을 원하는 농가는 해당 품목별 가입 기간 내 가까운 지역 농·축협이나 품목농협에서 신청하면 된다.

전남도 식량원예과 유덕규 과장은 “예측 불가능한 자연재난과 가격 하락 등으로 농가 수입 감소 위험이 커지고 있는 만큼, 농작물재해보험과 농업수입안정보험 가입은 반드시 필요하다.”며 “적극적인 보험 가입을 통해 안정적인 농업 경영을 확보하길 바란다.”고 강조했다.

“A Must for Jeonnam Farmers! Garlic and Onion Crop Insurance Enrollment Period Extended”
Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it has extended the enrollment period for crop disaster insurance and agricultural income insurance for garlic and onion farmers, in response to delayed sowing and transplanting caused by frequent rainfall.
With this measure, the enrollment period for warm-season garlic has been extended from the 14th to the 21st, and for onions from the 21st to the 28th.
Crop disaster insurance is a program that compensates farmers for crop damage caused by natural disasters such as typhoons, heavy rain, and drought, helping to stabilize farm management. Ninety percent of the insurance premium is supported by national and local government funds.
On the other hand, agricultural income insurance compensates for losses not only from natural disasters but also when farm income falls below a certain level due to market price declines. This insurance covers 85% of the premium.
Garlic and onion farmers can choose to enroll in either of the two insurance programs, but since both cover reduced yields, duplicate enrollment is not allowed.
Farmers wishing to enroll should apply at their local agricultural cooperative or crop-specific cooperative within the designated enrollment period.
Yu Deok-gyu, Director of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeollanam-do, emphasized, “Given the unpredictable natural disasters and market price declines that increase the risk of reduced farm income, enrollment in crop disaster insurance and agricultural income insurance is essential. We urge farmers to actively participate to ensure stable farm management.”
