통일은 거창한 구호가 아니라, 이웃의 얼굴을 알아보는 일에서 시작된다.
같은 뿌리에서 태어났지만 다른 길을 걸어온 북한 주민들을 따뜻하게 맞이하는 것, 그 작은 공감이 평화의 씨앗이 된다.

호남권통일플러스센터는 도민의 평화통일 공감대를 넓히고, 북한이탈주민에 대한 인식을 개선하기 위한 도민 참여형 공모사업을 추진한다고 밝혔다.

이번 공모는 두 갈래로 진행된다.
먼저 ‘평화통일 기반조성 사업’은 총 9천만 원 규모로, 도민을 대상으로 한 평화통일 교육과 문화행사, 인식조사, 정책 제안 연구 등을 통해 지역사회 전반의 통일 역량을 키우는 데 초점을 둔다.
접수는 오는 27일까지다.

또 하나는 올해 새롭게 마련된 ‘북한이탈주민과 함께 만드는 통일이야기’ 사업이다. 1천만 원 규모로, 탈북 청년과 북한이탈주민이 직접 참여해 지역사회 일상과 정착 경험을 주제로 한 문화콘텐츠를 만들어가는 프로그램이다.

통일을 먼 미래의 정치적 과제가 아닌, 지금 이웃과 나누는 삶의 이야기로 풀어내겠다는 취지다. 이 사업은 30일까지 신청을 받는다.

두 사업 모두 전라남도와 광주광역시에 소재한 비영리단체나 법인이 참여할 수 있으며, 사업의 필요성과 효과성, 수행 역량 등을 종합적으로 평가해 보조사업자를 선정한다.

선정된 사업은 올해 상반기부터 본격 추진될 예정이다.

김진선 호남권통일플러스센터장은 “이번 공모는 북한이탈주민과 도민이 함께 소통하며 통일을 일상의 언어로 풀어내는 뜻깊은 시도”라며 “한 뿌리를 가진 이웃을 따뜻하게 품는 지역사회의 힘이 평화통일의 밑거름이 되길 바란다.”고 말했다.

통일은 멀리 있지 않다. 오늘 우리가 내미는 작은 손길 속에서, 이미 시작되고 있다.

“Embracing Our Kindred Neighbors: Unification Is a Story of Our Lives, Here and Now”
— Honam Unification Plus Center Launches Resident-Participatory Peaceful Unification Grant Programs —
Unification does not begin with grand slogans. It begins with recognizing the faces of our neighbors. Welcoming North Korean residents—born from the same roots yet having walked different paths—with warmth and understanding is where the seeds of peace are sown.
The Honam Unification Plus Center announced that it will 추진 resident-participatory grant programs aimed at expanding public consensus on peaceful unification and improving perceptions of North Korean defectors.
This year’s initiative comprises two tracks.
First, the “Peaceful Unification Foundation-Building Program”, with a total budget of KRW 90 million, focuses on strengthening regional capacity for peaceful unification through public education, cultural events, perception surveys, and policy proposal research. Applications are open until the 27th.
The second track is the newly introduced “Stories of Unification Created Together with North Korean Defectors” program. With a budget of KRW 10 million, it supports cultural content creation in which North Korean defector youth and residents participate directly, sharing stories of everyday life and settlement experiences within local communities.
The aim is to present unification not as a distant political agenda, but as a lived narrative shared with our neighbors today. Applications for this program are accepted until the 30th.
Both programs are open to non-profit organizations and legal entities based in Jeollanam-do and Gwangju Metropolitan City. Grant recipients will be selected through a comprehensive evaluation of project necessity, effectiveness, and implementation capacity.
Selected projects will begin in the first half of this year.
Kim Jin-seon, Director of the Honam Unification Plus Center, said, “This call for proposals is a meaningful effort to turn unification into an everyday language through communication between North Korean defectors and local residents,” adding, “I hope many organizations and institutions will actively participate so that the warmth of local communities embracing neighbors of the same roots can become the foundation for peaceful unification.”
