Attention is turning to the outcome of the investigation into alleged payments and the division of construction work on a water pipeline project commissioned by Jangseong County. As of September 27, 2026, the latest stage confirmed in public reports is that police have booked two county officials and a construction supervisor. The construction supervision team counters that it reached a verbal agreement with the contractor’s on-site representative. Jangseong County has said urgent work was needed to speed up the project. Police were also reported to be examining the allegations surrounding the division of the work.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety previously notified Jangseong County of its request for an investigation and disciplinary action following an audit, according to KBC. The outstanding questions are the police investigation’s final outcome, the county’s disciplinary decision and whether the changes to the approximately 1.1 billion won portion of the project followed proper contracting procedures.
