화재 당시 상황은 긴박했다.
공개된 현장 화면에서도 아파트 세대의 발코니와 창문 쪽으로 거센 불길이 치솟고 검은 연기가 건물 외벽을 타고 올라가는 모습을 확인할 수 있다.
보도된 소방당국 설명에 따르면 소방대가 현장에 도착했을 당시 외부 개구부를 통해 다량의 화염과 연기가 분출되는 등 이미 화재가 최성기에 이른 상태였다.

불은 세대 내부 76㎡를 모두 태웠다.
TV와 냉장고 등 가전제품을 비롯해 가구와 의류 등 가재도구도 소실돼 소방서 추산 6,546만6천원의 재산피해가 발생한 것으로 집계됐다.

A late-night apartment fire in Buan, North Jeolla Province, claimed the life of a woman in her 40s and left her 7-year-old son seriously injured.
