‘Eye Love Project’

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) has received an award from the Minister of Health and Welfare for its social contribution activities promoting eye health and preventing blindness among vulnerable groups. The award recognizes its “Eye Love Project,” which has provided a total of KRW 2.4 billion in assistance to approximately 3,600 people since 2011.
KEPCO, led by President and CEO Kim Dong-cheol, announced that it received the award at the “Sight Day” ceremony on October 8, having been selected as an organization contributing to eye health promotion and blindness prevention.
The “Eye Love Project” supports financially disadvantaged people who need surgery or treatment for eye conditions that put them at risk of blindness. Through the project, KEPCO has helped cover surgery, treatment and consultation costs.
The program serves vulnerable people aged 59 and under. KEPCO explained that it focuses on those outside the age range covered by the government’s assistance program for people aged 60 and over.
According to KEPCO, the award recognizes its sustained support for eye care expenses and its efforts to address gaps in medical welfare.
Kim Dong-cheol said KEPCO would use the award as an opportunity to raise awareness of eye health and blindness prevention and expand its social contribution activities to help vulnerable people with limited access to medical support regain healthy daily lives. He added that the company would fulfill its social responsibility as a public enterprise by providing tailored assistance that delivers practical benefits to the public.
