전남 나주시의 한 농촌마을에서 60대 부부를 살해하고 피해자 명의 카드로 현금 600만 원을 인출한 혐의를 받는 50대 남성이 구속됐다.

9일 경찰과 지역언론 보도에 따르면 나주경찰서는 지난 5일 밤 나주시 왕곡면의 한 주택에서 60대 부부를 살해한 혐의로 A씨를 긴급체포하고 강도살인 혐의를 적용했다.

피해자 부부는 지난 6일 오후 연락이 닿지 않는 것을 이상하게 여긴 친척의 신고로 발견됐다. 당시 부부는 거실과 안방에서 각각 손발이 묶인 채 숨져 있었다.

경찰 조사 결과 A씨는 범행 당시 모자와 마스크로 얼굴을 가리고 자전거를 이용해 마을에 접근한 것으로 파악됐다. 범행 후에는 피해자 소유 화물차와 자전거, 자신의 승용차를 번갈아 이용하며 도주한 것으로 조사됐다.

특히 A씨는 범행 이후 피해자 명의 카드로 현금 600만 원을 인출한 것으로 알려졌다.

A씨는 경찰 조사에서 "빌려준 돈을 돌려받으러 갔다가 우발적으로 범행했다"는 취지로 진술했지만, 경찰은 범행 전후 행적 등을 토대로 계획범죄 가능성을 조사하고 있다.

지역 주민들은 피해자 부부가 평소 경제적으로 여유가 있고 이웃들에게 베풀며 생활했다며 피의자의 금전관계 주장에 의문을 제기한 것으로 전해졌다.

경찰은 지난 7일 무안군의 한 아파트 단지에서 A씨를 검거했으며, 법원은 9일 도주 우려 등을 이유로 구속영장을 발부했다.

경찰은 피해자 부부와 피의자 사이의 실제 금전거래 여부, 범행 도구의 행방, 사전 계획성과 살해 고의성 등을 집중 조사하고 있다.

A man in his 50s has been taken into custody on suspicion of murdering a couple in their 60s in a rural village in Naju, South Korea, and withdrawing 6 million won using a bank card belonging to one of the victims.
According to police and local media reports on October 9, the Naju Police Station arrested the suspect, identified only as A, in connection with the deaths of the couple at their home in Wanggok-myeon, Naju, on the night of October 5. Police have applied robbery-murder charges.
The couple were discovered on the evening of October 6 after a relative became concerned when they could not be reached. Both victims were found dead in separate rooms—the living room and a bedroom—with their hands and feet bound.
